Reasons for Approval of 2002 Kangaroo
Management Program

Director Rankin,
Thank
you for faxing the 2002 Kangaroo Kill Quota figures. Both versions
have been received with the first of 6, 989,747 and the revised
one of 6, 942,687.
In
accordance with the provisions set out in the Administrative Appeals
Tribunal Act 1975, the Australian Wildlife Protection Council
requests the reasons for the decision to approve the NSW Kangaroo
Management Program for Utilisation of Four Kangaroo Species in
NSW signed by the Minister for the Environment and Heritage,
Dr David Kemp 13thDecember 2001;
Further,
in accordance with the provisions set out in the Administrative
Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, the Australian Wildlife Protection
Council requests the reasons for the decision to approve each
of the commercial State quotas resulting in the Minister
Kemp's decision to sign on to the Environment Australia's recommended
6,942,687 million kangaroo kill quota for 2002 and valid
until December 2006.
In
accordance with the provisions of the above Act, we look forward
to receiving the reasons for Dr Kemp's decision to accept
the Advice of Environment Australia and the Minister's "Scientific
Committee on Wildlife Use".
