Re: Administrative Appeals Tribunal ACT 1975
Reasons for Approval of 2002 Kangaroo
Management Program

Dear Director Rankin,

Thank you for faxing the 2002 Kangaroo Kill Quota figures. Both versions have been received with the first of 6, 989,747 and the revised one of 6, 942,687.

In accordance with the provisions set out in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, the Australian Wildlife Protection Council requests the reasons for the decision to approve the NSW Kangaroo Management Program for Utilisation of Four Kangaroo Species in NSW signed by the Minister for the  Environment and Heritage, Dr David Kemp 13thDecember 2001;

Further, in accordance with the provisions set out in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, the Australian Wildlife Protection Council requests the reasons for the decision to approve each of the commercial State quotas  resulting in the Minister Kemp's decision to sign on to the Environment Australia's recommended 6,942,687 million kangaroo kill quota for 2002 and valid until December 2006.

In accordance with the provisions of the above Act, we look forward to  receiving the reasons for Dr Kemp's decision to accept the Advice of Environment Australia and the Minister's "Scientific Committee on Wildlife Use".

Yours faithfully,

Maryland Wilson
