SUBJECT: VETO AND REJECT BILL SB233

For reasons of
  • intolerable cruelty to kangaroos and their in-pouch and ex-pouch baby 'joeys'
  • loss of inherited gene strengths of the 'mobs' through artificial selection from long time killing of the biggest/ best kangaroos for commercial gain; by destroying the alpha males and the mature females, leaving populations a teetering pyramid, struggling to survive
  • unsustainable resource kill quotas set at 7 million in 2002, despite severe drought
  • the worst drought in over 100 years has left decimated, unhealthy, and unstable kangaroo populations, so devastated that it will take YEARS for them to recover; yet the commercial kangaroo killing industry continues its massacre
  • kangaroos are Australia's National Symbol and our greatest Tourist ICON;
  • we urge you Senators, of the great State of CALIFORNIA, not only to Reject Bill SB233 but to Legislate to PROTECT Australia's magnificent kangaroos before it is too late . Australia has the highest rate of extinctions in the world and SKIPPY THE BUSH KANGAROO must be protected for all time, for future generations to come
  • Therefore, we sincerely urge you NOT to pass this cynical and destructive BILL SB233

Yours sincerely,
Maryland Wilson
